A 7-day Madeira traverse designed as a six-stage trekking itinerary, linking the island’s main hiking regions into one continuous journey. We begin in the east and work westward, combining coastal sections, levada walks and mountain terrain, including the Arieiro–Ruivo ridge and trail days through Laurisilva forest. The route crosses the central highlands before descending towards the north coast, with transfers and timings planned to keep each day coherent. Expect full walking days and a mix of underfoot conditions—from stone steps and tunnels to open ridgelines and forest tracks. Accommodation is arranged locally, and the extra day provides room to rest or explore Funchal.
